It has been some time since we have posted, but we thought you might want to know this.

According to the TCO Tolling Customer Ombudsman website, Mr Michael Arnold retired as the tolling ombudsman, effective 30 June 2019.

The website says a Mr Nicolas Crowhurst has been appointed as the Interim TCO Tolling Customer Ombudsman.

Interestingly, although the website appears to still be owned by Mr Arnold’s entity, Lorimax Pty Ltd, the website now says “The Collaboratus Group Pty Ltd – trading as TCO Tolling Customer Ombudsman”. The Collaboratus Group is an entity associated with Mr Crowhurst. ABN Lookup still lists Lorimax Pty Ltd as the owner of the trading name.

Do ministers have to approve of these changes?

The website also notes that Melbourne’s EastLink/ConnectEast toll road operator – which is not Transurban – has chosen to withdraw from the TCO Tolling Customer Ombudsman scheme.

Finally, the TCO Tolling Customer Ombudsman intends to meet with toll road users in Queensland to discuss their complaints from September to November 2019.

The meetings appear to be for “eligible toll road customers” and only by appointment.

We are not suggesting that any laws have been broken, or that Mr Arnold or Mr Crowhurst have acted unlawfully or unethically.
