New Cosmetic Surgery Podcast Launching 6 November

Surgery Secrets: Beauty’s Dark Side is a video podcast exploring the dark themes in the cosmetic surgery industry with Australia’s leading experts.

It stands out from other podcasts by refusing to glamourise and minimise the harm and potential risks of aesthetic plastic surgery and injectables.

Topics will cover different angles and go deeper into the issues which frame cosmetic procedures as a tool for female empowerment or improved confidence, and will better inform patients about the sometimes hidden danger and little-known consequences of cosmetic surgery.

Through heavy discussions with experts and unheard voices, episodes will not fear-monger but instead be straightforward about the dark side of the industry. It provides the balance to the current state of podcasting and other marketing in the cosmetic surgery industry.

Guests include nurse whistleblower Justin Nixon, Professor Anand Deva, Dr Margaret Faux, Dr Veya Seekis, and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) representative Jason McHeyzer.

Produced and hosted by Michael Fraser and Maddison Johnstone, episodes cover whistleblowing, breast implants, complaints and Medicare, body image, regulation and more.

All surgery has risks. No surgery is glamorous. For a podcast without the industry spin, follow Surgery Secrets: Beauty’s Dark Side on Spotify and Apple. The first episode is coming 6 November 2023 with more episodes being filmed in December.
