Over the past few days, journalists Clay Lucas and Henrietta Cook revealed shocking practices in telehealth and prescribing cosmetic injectables like Botox and dermal filler. Their series of publications included the revelation that Fresh Clinics does just 52-second telehealth consultations with patients. The Age detailed how Fresh Clinics published two videos of actual patient consultations on their website and even revealed a patient's face, name, date of birth, address and phone number.
Their journalism also looked into patient harm, and how advertising plays a role. Our research has been referenced in these articles, and soon we will be releasing our report which shows nearly 100% non-compliance with the TGA's advertising rules across Australian injector websites. Some injectors have even openly mocked the TGA in their advertising on social media.
So, what do you do if you are a patient who has been harmed or injured, suffered a complication, or been pressured by an injector into getting treatment you don't want?
Over the years, we have helped expose some of Australia's most prominent cosmetic surgery and injectable clinics. We are well practiced in helping patients make reports to regulators, and in helping them speak out to the media. We are also here to listen to patients who wish to tell their story confidentially. You can contact us anytime, and we can walk you through what the next steps can be, depending on what you are comfortable with.
If you have been harmed as a result of cosmetic injectables, and especially if you had a telehealth consultation with a doctor, we would love to hear from you. Your story is important, you matter, and you should not feel any judgment in what has happened to you - it is not your fault. You have a right to access safe medical procedures from appropriately trained healthcare practitioners who dedicate time and attention to you.
Patients can contact us confidentially by emailing cosmeticsurgeryresearch@protonmail.com. You can also call us: our numbers are listed here
